How to ensure that nuclear disarmament is being executed?
IFE's researchers have developed a prototype tool that contribute to confirm that the disarmament of nuclear weapons is being done. The project is part of a larger collaboration between Norway and the UK.
An important issue related to disarmament is how to ensure that the other party are actually reducing armament, and at the same time avoid revealing sensitive information of military character, and avoid breaking the UN non-proliferation agreement.
IFE has been involved in this unique collaboration since 2007. The goal is to develop methods and tools that weapons inspectors can use during the supervision of the dismantling of nuclear weapons. IFE's expertise in nuclear power and nuclear technology is an important prerequisite to be able to contribute to the project.
