Making the invisible visible

Making the invisible visible

When shutting down a reactor, it is important to know which areas have high levels of radioactivity. Hazardous zones must be avoided. Radioactive radiation is only visible by using VR- technology.

IFE's expertise on visualization is relevant to use in safety-critical areas of nuclear power plants. Various related technologies develop graphical interfaces in the form of 2D- and 3D- modeling, virtual and augmented reality.

IFE has in several projects in Russia and Eastern Europe, including Chernobyl, showed how VR- technology can be used as a tool for training, simulation and planning of safety-critical operations such as decommissioning. This use of visualization technology may contribute to increased security in challenging processes.
