The primary objective of IFE's activities at Halden is to maintain national expertise in reactor technology and safety, based on the international Halden Project. At the same time, the Halden Project's network, resources and expertise are being optimally exploited through comprehensive international and national co-operative projects to benefit Norwegian industry and Norwegian society-at-large. .

Employees: 120 and turnover: 140 MNOK

  • IFE's activities are related to the two research reactors in Halden and at Kjeller.
  • IFE's basic knowledge of nuclear technology is a key element of its energy and petroleum research.
  • Experimentation provides reliable materials data, allowing IFE to learn more about the life span and safety aspects of nuclear reactors.

At Kjeller we have the activities:

  • Production of instrumental and standard fuel rods
  • Examination, characterization, re-fabrication and instrumentation of irradiated fuel rods
