Battery Materials Laboratory
The IFE Battery Material Laboratory was established in 2010 and has facilities for manufacturing and testing battery materials and electrodes
Chemical analyses and characterization equipment for oil and gas industry and environmental technologies
A wide selection of equipment for chemical and geochemical analyses with emphasis in the oil and gas sector, and research activities for environmental technologies development.
Eksperimentutførelse
Rundt 35 instrumenterte test-rigger er lastet i Haldenreaktoren (HBWR). Riggene er bestykket med et stort spekter instrumentfølere for å kartlegge egenskapene til nukleært brensel og material legeringer.
Experimental facilities for environmental technologies development
A number of multi-purpose reactors and dedicated experimental set-ups, comprising hydrogen production, CO2 storage, mineral processing and other environmental technologies.

Halden Virtual Reality Centre
Halden Virtual Reality Centre (HVRC) is an international centre for research into virtual, augmented, and mixed reality technologies focussed on the application of both emerging and maturing 3D technologies to address the needs of industries that manage complex processes.
Haldenreaktoren
Haldenreaktoren ligger 100 meter inne i fjell, med en overdekning på 30 til 50 meter. Når reaktoren er i drift er fjellhallen stengt med slusedører. Volumet innenfor slusedørene er 4500 m³. Reaktorhallen er 10 meter bred, 30 meter lang og den har en total høyde på 26 meter hvorav 11.5 er over gulvet i hallen. Reaktorhallen inneholder også brenselbrønner for lagring av brukt brensel.
HAMMLAB
HAMMLAB is an international centre for research into process control, human system interaction, and human performance in complex systems. Its patrons include utilities, vendors and regulatory bodies from twenty countries world-wide, who jointly fund applied nuclear research through the OECD Halden Project, and individual groups and organisations who fund specific studies.
Hastelloy loops
The two Hastelloy loops are used for high temperature and high pressure corrosion testing.

Hydrogensystemlab
Hydrogensystemlaboratoriet består av følgende komponenter: vindmølle, PEM-elektrolysør, metallhydridlager, PEM-brenselcelle, kraftomformere, og data- og styringssystemer.
Instrumentation Design
The Institute for Energy Technology has been world leading within design and manufacture of nuclear instrumentation since the early 1960’s for experiments in the Halden Reactor. Today, IFE-Halden has a unique competence in instrumentation used for on-line monitoring of nuclear fuel and material behavior; specially customized instrumentation solutions; and a highly developed program on Generation IV instruments. IFE –Halden has a foresight development program aimed at meeting instrumentation requirements for the long-term future within the nuclear industry.
JEEP II
JEEP II er en tungtvannsmoderert reaktor. Tungtvannet virker også som kjølemiddel. Reaktoren har en maksimal varmeeffekt på 2000 kW. Varmen avgis i en varmeveksler til et tertiært varmetransportsystem med vanlig vann som igjen avgir varmen til et sentralvarmesystem som varmer opp enkelte av IFEs bygninger. Overskuddsvarme slippes ut gjennom et kjøletårn.
Low Level Radioactivity Laboratories
IFE operates one of Norway's largest special laboratories for radiochemical analysis and measurement of very small amounts of radiactivity in such samples. The laboratory is also a qualified member of IAEA’s ALMERA (Analytical Laboratories for the Measurement of Environmental Radioactivity) network. To be a qualified member of this network, the laboratory has to participate with good results in the ALMERA proficiency tests arranged by IAEA.
Low Pressure Loop
IFE's Low Pressure Loop is used for studying 2- and 3-phase multiphase gas-liquid-particle flow in near horizontal pipes or in a rectangular channel, at atmospheric pressure. The test facility contributes with high quality experimental data used to improve and test basic multiphase flow models.
Neutron Activation Laboratory
The 2 MW JEEP II reactors at IFE provides excellent facilities for Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA).
Numerical and process simulation laboratory for geological and industrial processes
Competences in numerical and process simulation and availability of in-house developed and commercial software to empower research on diverse environmental challenges.

Reactor Chemistry
The Reactor Chemistry Section in the Experimental Engineering Department in Halden has two laboratories; one operational and the other analytical. Three Chemists work in each laboratory. The laboratory working fields are mostly aqueous systems, which range from high purity to waste water.
Scanning elektron mikroskop (SEM)
IFE fikk i 2004 installert et nytt scanning elektron mikroskop (SEM). Instrumentet er et Hitachi S4800, og det er et av de mest avanserte som finnes i Norge i dag. Det er et virkelig "nano"-instrument med en oppløsning som er spesifisert til 1nm (ved 15kV akselerasjonsspenning) som også kan gjøre alt en vanlig SEM kan.
