The simulators are used for process engineering and training of operators.  

Mathematical modelling of materials processing includes - aluminium electrolysis including magnetohydrodynamic stability, - casting of aluminium, silicon and steel, - heat treatment of aluminium and steel, - welding of aluminium and steel, - other aluminium forming processes - microstructure models for aluminium alloys under thermal and mechanical processing, including precipitation, annealing and work hardening.
