IFE has a developed a hydrogen system laboratory suitable for testing of integrated systems based on renewable energy and hydrogen and fuel cell technology. This laboratory has in the past been used to test stand-alone power system based on PV- and wind generators, water electrolyzers (hydrogen production), metal hydrides (hydrogen storage), and fuel cells.
The current version of the laboratory (figures below) is configured for testing and development of advanced power controls of grid-connected PV-systems using hydrogen fuel cells for back-up power.
