Every year SPE awards a limited number of prizes to selected professionals after thorough consideration and evaluation. These prizes are awarded to experts who have contributed to the petroleum industry and the society far beyond what is normally expected of persons in execution of their professional tasks.
- A very pleasant appreciation! This proves that what we are doing in the field of tracer technology is visible internationally. The entire department of Reservoir and Exploration shares credit for this prize, Bjørnstad emphasizes.
The Reservoir Description and Dynamics Award recognizes outstanding achievements in or contributions to the advancement of petroleum engineering in the field of reservoir description and dynamics. SPE highlights the following about Bjørnstad’s achievements:
"Tor Bjørnstad has for over 20 years actively developed tracer technology for enhanced use and operation in oil and natural gas fields. He has contributed with technology leading methods for surveillance and understanding of fluid flow in oil reservoirs as well as in vital processes at the platforms.
Under his management the Institute for Energy Technology at Kjeller has built up a highly recognized professional community with world-wide technology services.
The industry and the specialist environment recognize him as a competent and motivating initiator for development and application of new technology, with emphasis on thorough design and testing before field application."
SPE Oslo will present the award at the Annual Meeting December 15th this year. Society of Petroleum Engineers is one of the world’s largest trade organisations with about 88 000 members in 118 countries.
