- 2008 - A year of celebration for the Halden Project
- In June 1958, the contract establishing the Halden Project as an international OECD research programme was signed. The purpose of the project was to build a power producing research reactor to gain construction- and operation experience.
- Successful anniversary seminar 11th June
- The Seminar on Nuclear Safety and International co-operation was held at the Holmenkollen Park Hotel. The seminar was a part of Institute of Energy Technology’s 50th anniversary of the Halden Reactor Project.
- Enlarged Halden Programme Group meeting in Loen
- The yearly EHPG meeting took place in Loen, however this meeting was a bit different, since it also was a part of the 50th anniversary of the Halden Reactor Project.
- Kazakhstan - A new member of the Halden Reactor Project
- One more country, Kazakhstan, will be member of the Halden Reactor Project from 2009. The negotiations started in the beginning of 2008 and the Associated Party Agreement was signed in Halden 19th of September.
- ZEG - CO2-free energy technology for the future
- The ZEG technology has potential for power production with 80-90 % efficiency with integrated CO2 capture to competitive costs.
