Operation Centres

ife The division's activities focus on development and evaluation of control rooms and operation centres and human-machine interaction research. Emphasis is put on developing user interfaces to satisfy the operator's needs for operating on a safe and efficient basis.

The division's staff members have competence within several areas such as:

  • The nuclear process and operation
  • The petroleum process
  • Modelling and simulator development
  • Control room design particularly within interface design, large screen displays and alarm systems
  • Human factors in connection with control room design and evaluation

A simulator based experimental laboratory, HAMMLAB, is the division's important facility for testing and integrating control room solutions. HAMMLAB simulates oil and gas production at the Oseberg oilfield, as well as three different nuclear power plants. The division's main activities are research being performed for the international OECD Halden Reactor Project, in addition to bilateral projects for Norwegian and foreign industry.
