Electron Beam Welding

Electron Beam Welding is a high energy density welding method. The main advantages with the method are listed below.

The design requirements may often vary from one area of a component to another. Therefore, instead of producing a component out of only one piece of material, it may be more cost effective to electron beam weld high grade materials into the most critical areas of a particular component.

  • low heat input and low distortion
  • welding with large differences in thickness
  • thick parts in one pass
  • high welding speed
  • welding 'unweldable' and dissimilar metals
  • gives high quality and good reproducibility
  • no contamination
  • accuracy and repeatability
